Did you pick up a copy of Voyage UW last quarter and think, WOW this seems like an awesome group of fun loving people to work with? Are you fascinated by the different ways of living, thinking, and exploring the globe? Do you hope to expand your thinking about the good and bad of travel

Well, great – we’re looking for someone like you! Joining Voyage isn’t just a great resume booster, but it’s also a great way to build a community of like-minded individuals!

Voyage UW Team Positions

All positions require 1 meeting per week and are at least a school year commitment!

Co – Editor in Chief

  • Leading the production of our biannual issues – editorial direction
  • Checking in with writers, photographers, etc. to make sure they’re on top of their stories weekly
  • Pitching theme ideas & stories that could go along in each issue
  • You’re really pushing the direction of how voyage could go 
  • Final read of the issue
  • People-oriented, journalistic centered and entrepreneurial spirit

Copy Editor

  • Curate submitted student stories to be published with other copy editors
  • Individually team up with students to edit and improve stories on a weekly basis – provide direction and suggestions
  • Opportunity to publish writing if you have a rad idea and/or accompany on trips
  • Proofread through final issue prior to publication with other copy editors


  • Enjoy storytelling and has a passion for travel and writing
  • Work with copy editors to write stories for each bi-annual issues
  • Work with the blog editor to submit one or more articles for our blog each quarter
  • Willing to take feedbacks and easy to work with

Layout Designer

  • Work with Lead Layout Designer to create magazine layout (twice a year)
  • Very reliable and easy to communicate with
  • Communicate with photo, design and copy editing teams on a weekly basis
  • Be familiar with Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Previous experience in a design/arts position + magazine layout is preferred
  • Assist marketing and illustrators in creating merchandise, collateral, and digital marketing content

Artists (Illustrators)

  • Read all projected articles and create illustration accordingly(twice a year)
  • Very reliable and easy to communicate with
  • Communicate with photo, design and copy editing teams on a weekly basis
  • Assist marketing and Layout Designers in creating fundraising merchandise, collateral, and digital marketing content

Marketing and Outreach

  • Commit for at least a full academic year
  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Manage Facebook page and Instagram, keeping feed and stories active on a daily/weekly basis
  • Navigate social media tools to increase and maintain engagement
  • Looking for sponsorship and potential partnership
  • Assist with other operations within the magazines
  • Apply if you have a passion for marketing/outreach and obtain entrepreneur-spirit
